Today, Monday 13th October 2011 is 100th Birth Anniversary of our Dadamuni, Ashok Kumar. Born Kumudlal Ganguly provided his versatile acting and proved his brilliance in Bollywood for almost five decades since 1930′s.
Ashok Kumar was born in Bhagalpur district of Bengal Presidency (in Bihar now). His father was a lwayer and his mother belonged to a rich family from Bengal. Kishore Kumar and Anoop Kumar were his brother who also acted in Bollywood films later in the course. Ashok Kumar married Shobha, their marriage was a bit unsuccessful because of his wife who was an alcoholic.
Dadamumni was awarded with many prestigious awards from Government of India like Dada Sahab Falke award in year 1988 and Padma Bhusan in year 1998.

Ashok Easwaran, a Chicago based journalist will release a new biography on legend Ashok Kumar this month as part of the celebrations. This biography will cover almost all the memories and events related to this actor by courtesy of his family members, friends and former colleagues.
