Twitter, a known social networking site has made an announcement that it can now start restricting on tweets on country by country basis. This move can be augured well for India which recently urged social networking sites to remove displeasing contents.
“As we continue to grow internationally, we will enter countries that have different ideas about the contours of freedom of expression,” Twitter wrote in a blog post published Thursday. It said even with the possibility of such restrictions, Twitter would not be able to coexist with some countries. “Some differ so much from our ideas that we will not be able to exist there,” it said.
The suggested step came in between the reports of a legal clash between India and the social Internet hubs like Google, Yahoo, Twitter and Facebook, over pre investigating the contents of user and removing of unpleasant materials from respective websites.
In order to keep everything clear with the users the Twitter on Thursday has said that it has maintained a mechanism which can warn the user that their tweet is being blocked.
